Warlock / Sorcerer “Coffeelock”Multiclass Build Guide — D&D 5e
"Coffeelock." Convert short-rest pact slots into sorcery points into more slots — a near-infinite fuel loop that DMs watch nervously.
The synergy
Why Warlock / Sorcerer Works
From the warlock’s perspective, you are lending your short-rest engine to the sorcerer’s conversion machinery. Pact Magic slots recharge every short rest, and the sorcerer’s Font of Magic turns those slots into sorcery points, which convert back into standard spell slots. The warlock’s contribution is the fuel; the sorcerer’s contribution is the refinery. Together they produce more spellcasting resources than the system expects any character to have.
Even without the controversial infinite loop, the warlock dip is strong on a sorcerer. Eldritch Blast + Agonizing Blast gives the sorcerer a reliable at-will ranged attack that scales with character level — better than Fire Bolt in damage, range, and damage type. Two invocations add flexibility: Devil’s Sight for the Darkness combo, Repelling Blast for battlefield control, or Eldritch Mind for concentration advantage.
The patron feature is a bonus layer. Hexblade gives medium armour, shields, and CHA to melee — a martial option the sorcerer otherwise cannot access. Genie gives a bonus damage die once per turn and a safe resting space. Undead adds a fear rider on Eldritch Blast beams. The warlock dip is the most versatile thing you can add to a sorcerer, whether or not your DM allows the loop.
Ability priority: CHA → CON → DEX — Charisma powers both classes, Eldritch Blast, and all save DCs. Constitution for concentration. No stat tax — both classes require Charisma 13.

Frequently Asked
How is this different from the Sorcerer/Warlock Coffeelock?
Same build, warlock’s perspective. The sorcerer file focuses on Metamagic and the conversion loop. This file focuses on what the warlock contributes: Pact Magic, Eldritch Blast, invocations, and a patron. The mechanical outcome is identical.
Is the loop worth building around?
Even if your DM bans the infinite loop (Xanathar’s exhaustion rule or slot cap), the warlock dip is strong. EB + Agonizing, short-rest Metamagic fuel, and a patron feature justify the dip without any loop abuse.
Warlock 1, 2, or 3 for a sorcerer?
Warlock 1 for Hexblade armour + EB. Warlock 2 for Agonizing Blast + short-rest slot conversion (the standard). Warlock 3 for a Pact Boon. Each additional level delays sorcerer Metamagic and sorcery points. Most Coffeelocks stop at 2.
