Eldritch KnightFighter Martial Archetype — D&D 5e

Eldritch Knight bolts a wizard’s spellbook onto a fighter’s frame, leaning hard into abjuration and evocation so the spells reinforce the sword-and-board playstyle instead of replacing it. You’re never going to out-caster a wizard, but shield, absorb elements, and a blade that flies back into your hand on command make this the fighter build with the best answers to the situations pure martials usually just have to eat.

Eldritch Knight Features

Level 3Spellcasting and Weapon Bond

You gain a limited wizard spell list weighted toward abjuration and evocation, and you can magically bond up to two weapons to yourself so a disarmed or thrown weapon can be summoned back into your hand as a bonus action instead of staying lost on the battlefield.

Level 7War Magic

When you cast a cantrip on your turn, you can make one weapon attack as a bonus action, letting you chip in spell damage and steel damage in the same round instead of choosing between casting and swinging.

Level 10Eldritch Strike

Hitting a creature with a weapon attack leaves it magically off-balance, giving it disadvantage on its next save against a spell you cast before the end of your next turn, so you can land a hit specifically to set up a control spell that would otherwise be easy to shrug off.

Level 15Arcane Charge

When you use Action Surge, you can teleport up to 30 feet as part of that extra action, letting you blink into melee range, unload a full attack, and still have used only your normal resources for the turn.
