Dungeons & Dragons 5e
Character SheetEvery box on the 5e sheet, filled in for you
The six abilities, every saving throw, all eighteen skills, spell slots and gear — worked out from a race, a class and a level. Print it for the table, or keep it and let the rest of the forge build on it.
A D&D 5e character sheet is one page holding six ability scores, the modifiers and proficiency bonus derived from them, six saving throws, eighteen skills, your armour class and hit points, your spell slots, and the equipment and personality you actually play. Most of it is arithmetic. This does the arithmetic.

What Goes on a 5e Character Sheet
Six blocks. Everything on the page is one of them, or derived from one of them.
The six ability scores
Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. Everything else on the sheet hangs off these six numbers.
Each score has a modifier: (score − 10) ÷ 2, rounded down. A 16 gives +3.
Proficiency bonus
One number that scales with level and feeds every save, skill and attack you are trained in.
+2 at levels 1–4, then +1 every four levels, up to +6 at level 17.
Saving throws
Six boxes, one per ability. Your class decides which two you are proficient in — those get the proficiency bonus on top of the modifier.
A paladin is proficient in Wisdom and Charisma saves.
The 18 skills
Each skill hangs off one ability — Stealth off Dexterity, Arcana off Intelligence. Tick the ones you are trained in and add the proficiency bonus.
Background and class together decide which skills you get.
Armour Class, hit points, initiative
AC comes from your armour and shield, hit points from your class hit die plus Constitution, initiative from Dexterity.
These are the three numbers you will read out loud most often at the table.
Spell slots and known spells
Casters track slots by level, from 1st up to 9th. Full casters, half casters and warlocks all use different tables.
A level 5 wizard has 4 first-level, 3 second-level and 2 third-level slots.

Race, class and level are enough — the sheet fills itself in around them.

Why Not Just a Blank PDF?
A blank sheet is fine. It just leaves all the arithmetic — and every level-up — to you.
The difference that matters is what happens next: a sheet in your account is an input to everything else here. The same character feeds portrait art, a backstory, the NPCs they meet and encounters scaled to their level — instead of you retyping the same race and class into six different tools.
Counsel
Frequently Asked
What is a D&D character sheet?
It is the one page that holds everything mechanical about your character: the six ability scores, your saving throws and skills, armour class, hit points, spell slots, equipment and the personality notes you roleplay from. Everything you do at the table is read off, or written onto, this page.
How do I fill in a 5e character sheet?
Work in this order: pick race and class, assign the six ability scores, then derive the rest. Modifiers come from the scores, the proficiency bonus comes from your level, and saves and skills are the modifier plus that bonus where you are proficient. Armour class comes from your armour, hit points from your class hit die plus your Constitution modifier. The forge does all of this for you if you would rather skip the arithmetic.
How is the proficiency bonus calculated?
It is +2 at levels 1 to 4, +3 at 5 to 8, +4 at 9 to 12, +5 at 13 to 16 and +6 at 17 to 20. Add it to any saving throw, skill, weapon or tool you are proficient in — it never applies twice, and it never applies to something you are not trained in.
Can I print the character sheet?
Yes. Generate a character and the finished sheet prints straight from your browser, so you can bring paper to the table and still have the digital copy in your account.
Is it free?
You can read this page and browse example builds without an account. Generating a full sheet needs a free account, which comes with a starting allowance of credits.
Does the sheet work with homebrew races and classes?
Yes. The race and class fields accept free text, so you can type a homebrew species or a third-party class and the generator will build a level-appropriate sheet around it rather than refusing the input.
